Default How is this site operated?             Go to Top

Thanks to Don and others for getting this going. The Birdforum site was too bogged down in egos. Encouragement and habitat protection are too important to be held hostage to other agendas.

So, how is this forum supported and what does it need to continue?

Some are helping with their time and technical expertise; but how do the rest of us donate financially to the cause?

Don, I'm sure that most of us here would be willing to ante-up. Let me know how I can help.

Default Your support of ibwo.net is appreciated             Go to Top

Hi Folks:

Its hard to believe that we have been online now for 3 years already! Our members have freely shared with others everything from preferred cameras and equipment, the most effective way of searching in the field, to their theories on ivory-bill biology. And of course last but not least their sightings as well! While there have been seasons of quiet followed by rushes of excitement when someone produces images, one thing remains the same. A need for a site where anyone and everyone can quickly access current valuable information about this magnificent species.

I sincerely dislike promotions or fund raisers especially on a website with a focus on conserving and learning about a rare species. However even though I can personally relate to changes in ones personal economy, annual maintenance and software license fees still occur here at Ivory-bill researchers.

We would be very thankful for any donations to help keep ibwo.net afloat and especially appreciative of your kindness considering the current financial weather system. For convenience sake paypal is now integrated with all major credit cards so one click covers all the bases. Especially great if you have a credit card and no paypal account. If you prefer another method of donating please send me a quick private message or if you have other questions please feel free to send me a note at ibwonet1@gmail.com.

Thanks so much!

Don Kimball - Administrator

The economy has been tough on everyone, so I'm pleased to see that a number of individuals are now being listed as an "IBWO Supporter." Thank you for all that you do, Don; we know it's not all fun and pleasure to operate this site. You've been a gracious host. Have a great new year!

Hi Sidewinder
To be a bit transparent here, originally I certainly jumped into operating a forum without realizing the complexity in human relations that it can involve. Especially ones that are totally in cyberspace. Keeping a balance between providing a respectful and enjoyable place to share information about Ivory-bills with folks' passion can, at times be a tall order for sure. But that is all part of the "job description" of being a forum creator and operator.

I also want to publicly thank Fangsheath at this time. From the original layout of the forum's design over 3 years ago, to providing feedback on how best to deal with specific issues about membership, he has proven to be invaluable as a sounding board. One couldnt ask for a better co-leader on a site such as this. A warm and heartfelt thank you Dave!

Even as recent as the last few weeks IBWO members have continued to let me know that this site is valuable to them. When I think about it, it still amazes me that this site serves such a broad spectrum of people. From the keen amateur birder who just cant learn enough about the species, to the seasoned Federal biologist. These are the people that come here like you and I to learn what is happening in the world of the IBWO.

Thanks again for your kind comments Sidewinder and a warm HAPPY NEW YEAR! to all our members and supporters!

Don
