Through an unbelievable great connection, I am able to offer Wadmacon creek / area ibwo search trips this summer / fall based from an isolated cabin on 150 acres on Wadmacon creek in Stewards Neck, Georgetown County, SC. His land goes up into the pine uplands where lots of fresh scaling is eveident.
The 52 yr old private land owner is reliable, a hunter, retired manager from a state utility, very knowledgeable of north santee history and wildlife. He's smack dab in sc ibwo historical area, the same place Sprunt / Walsh verified IBWOs 1933-35.
This is a once in a lifetime search opportunity and the benefits could be great for conservation. I would serve as your personal guide on the creek, lands. We have permission to search most of the private lands in the area till hunting season.
By coming and searching you could help us / yourself secure the photo, and that would be a good thing.
Landowner's help, a 5 day stay in a air-conditioned cabin with amenities, clean room, my services, would be a $1,000 fee. Motored Jon boat available but would be extra charge.
There has been a very fresh clear ibwo sighting report ( 3 people ) i have taken first hand nearby this spot March '09-absolutely intriguing.
I have recorded double knocks and kents in this area over the last year. And the lower Santee is the same river system as Congaree 110 miles away. Many stories to share and we need your eyes, ears, cameras, video.
Audio recording gear allows us to set up listening stations from boats, pine uplands. 6 game cameras to move around and deploy. Passive and non passive search techniques available. Several blinds and roost holes stake outs nearby.
I guess we could call this "Rough House Birding" low country SC style. Trips to other SC IBWO locales also available.
Serious inquiries welcome. I only offered it because the man is very solid and the location cannot be beat in the lower santee and current ibwo activity could be going on.
